[1.8] News: New lighting, creative mode, endermen and more!

Here are the updates Notch presented @ PAX.



Creative Mode:
In this mode the player takes no damage, can fly (Yay!), can control day/night cicle and he can spawn infite items ... we will miss you toomanyitems :(


New Lighting Engine: 

Day/Nitght transition is much smoother
Torches and glostone generate their own type of  light and color

Brightness is now adjustable

Hunger bar

The player heals slower when hungry

More types of meat added

Eating animation

Experience bar

Monsters drop experience orbs

Get skill points which are useless at this moment

New combat system

Bows can be charged for additional damage

Critical hits from jumps or semi-randomly from charged bow shots

Ability to sprint. Hitting mobs while sprinting knoks them back.

Enderman

This guy is peaceful .. untill you look at him. After that he teleports behind you when you look somewhere else and ... yea you're pretty much dead :D

BetterTranslationMod by FIX94 allows you to edit menus, loading screens and object dialogs text. These can't be edited from en_US.lang file so if you want to make a translation this mod is pretty useful.

How to install:
1. Download BetterTranslationMod from minecraftforum.net or use this link
2. Open minecraft.jar (if you don't know how to do this click this link)
3. Drag & drop the files from the archive you downloaded to minecraft.jar

4. Drag & drop your language pack files in .minecraft.jar\lang. I'm using my own romanian translation
5. Delete META-INF folder if you haven't already
6. Play!

iDNCraft Adventure Map early preview

This is an sneak peek of my first project, an adventure map. It doesn't have a name yet but I have a few ideas.
There will  be a big city and a lot of different structures. (The buildings that you can see above will be some of the smallest). Since just buildings are not enough for an adventure, I already have a story, and quests.

One of the biggest projects in Minecraft Modding history is now completed. Five very well-known and talented modders (Kingbdogz, Kodaichi, Shockah, Flan and 303) have joined forces to develop the Aether, a celestial realm found in outer limits of the atmosphere. The Aether is what you could call the "antipole" of the Nether. The Nether is a network of desolate, fiery caverns filled with bloodstained Cobblestone and sticky Soulsand; it lies beneath the very soil of our Minecraft world. The Aether, on the other hand, is a collection of floating plains and islands, all connected together to create a breathtaking dimension of the skies. Even during the night, the Aether is still quite peaceful, and a normal day in the Aether is the equivalent of three days on the surface. 

Features:

Entire new world with new blocks and textures

New mobs including flying pigs, dungeon bosses, mimics and more.

New items incuding cloud parachutes, lore books, darts and more
New tool and armor sets

First Look: 

First you have to make a portal. Almost the same way you make a nether portal but replace obsidian with glowstone and fire with wather.

Go through the portal and BAM! a whole new world waiting for you :) ... oh and the cloud mobs too (that's what I call them cause I don't really know their name :D). Don't try to talk, or make one of them your friend. They don't really like to meet new people, that's why they will try to kick you back in your world ASAP.

The problem is: they will succeed sometimes. Last time it happened to me I was ready, so here I am floating on my cloud parachute ... Like a BOSS

Back to Aether ! I made some new friends this time. An aerwhale and a @#%^$!( flying pig! :D

Enough with making friends I guess, So I looked for some zanite, made 2 pickaxes and went to my first dungeon. (Challenge accepted)

To open .minecraft folder follow the steps:

1. Press windows key+R or go to Start > Run

2. Type %appdata%
3. Look for .minecraft folder.
4. To find minecraft.jar go to .minecraft/bin/ folder.
5. You can open it by right clicking it then Open With and choose winrar or 7zip.
6. Before changing anything here make a backup.

In order to use HD texture packs without bugs you will need to patch your Minecraft using this tool.

How to install:

1. Download MC Patcher from the official thread or use this download link.

2. Extract the zip archive.

3. Open the .exe file and it should look like this: (If one of the mods here are grayed out you should get a fresh minecraft.jar)

4. Check Better Grass box if you like this mod (click this link if you don't know what Better Grass is) or just click Patch.
